The questions Franklin County homeowners and contractors actually ask us, answered straight.
On your own driveway or property: no. On a borough street or right-of-way: yes — Waynesboro requires a street occupancy permit, and several borough streets are tight enough that we'd steer you to a driveway placement anyway. When you call, tell us where you want the can and we'll tell you whether paperwork is involved. Same goes for Greencastle and Mercersburg boroughs; townships are generally more relaxed about it.
The transfer station won't accept these in a mixed load: tires, liquid paint or solvents, chemicals, oils, batteries, and anything with refrigerant in it — refrigerators, freezers, window AC units, dehumidifiers. Almost everything else from a cleanout or remodel is fine: furniture, wood, drywall, shingles, flooring, cabinets, general junk. Not sure about an item? Ask when you book — a 30-second question beats a rejected load.
Seven days standard, which covers most cleanouts and tear-offs comfortably. Roofing crews often only need three. If the project runs long, call before your pickup date and we'll extend it for a small daily rate — no drama.
Each size carries a tonnage allowance sized to what that container typically holds. You only hit overage on dense material — concrete, dirt, plaster, wet debris, or a very heavy shingle load. Tell us what you're tossing and we'll size it honestly; if the material is heavy, we may recommend a smaller can loaded level, which usually saves money over a big can plus overage.
We put boards under the wheels and rails on every residential drop. If your driveway is fresh asphalt (under a year old) or it's a 95-degree day, mention it — we'll place with extra care or find a better spot. Concrete and gravel are rarely an issue.
The can needs a spot roughly the size of two parked cars plus overhead clearance for the truck to tilt (about 20 feet — watch for wires and branches). Driveways are ideal. We've delivered down Waynesboro alleys, onto rural properties in Quincy Township, and up mountain driveways in Blue Ridge Summit — if a truck fits, we'll get it placed.
Usually within a day or two, often same-week even in busy season. Call in the morning and there's a decent chance it's on your driveway before dinner.
Most residential rentals in our area run roughly $300–$600 all-in depending on size and material; a 30-yard construction can with a 3-ton allowance typically runs around $650. That includes delivery, pickup, the rental window, and the tonnage allowance. One number, quoted before we schedule anything: (717) 794-7489.
